This 1937 re-creation SS100 Sports 2.5 Litre Jaguar (BDW 38) has been in the same family for over thirty years.
The vendor's sons started to recreate this SS100 Sports car in 1984 from a Jaguar saloon factory car, using all the running gear, and completed it in 1989.
Every detail was copied from a genuine SS100 alongside the rebuild from start to finish, to enable every detail to be as close as possible at all times.
The saloon chassis was altered by Trac Products and the body work was acquired from Ashton Keynes Restorations including new ash frame with the aluminium skin, wings, bonnet, etc.
It was fitted with a new petrol tank, wind screen, QK596 headlights, owl’s eye rear lights, radiator cowl, and all fittings chromed.
The 2.5 litre OHV engine with "SS" on the block side, not the later Jaguar type, had new pistons, valves and guides with new valve seats for unleaded fuel, all new white metal big end and main bearings fitted, new clutch, starter motor, dynamo etc.
