Meyers, who lived at Newport Beach in California, the Meyers Manx buggy was intended to drive to the beach and cross the dunes to go surfing.

The first few examples, built for his friends, proved a real success, later heightened by the record it set in the Baja 1000 race in Mexico in 1967, and stars such as Elvis or Steve McQueen became devoted followers.

Like all good ideas, the Manx was later much copied and today, genuine examples are highly sought after.

The example presented here is one such model, as its manufacturer’s plate and certificate of authenticity issued by Bruce Meyers confirm.
