Derived from the 535i, but with a reworked engine and suspension, it produced 254 bhp compared to the 211 of the original version.
This model was intended to launch BMW's production M5, as it was unacceptable to the Munich-based brand that a 'small manufacturer' like Alpina should produce the most powerful 5 Series! Alpina then responded with the B10 Bi-Turbo, a second supercharged version derived from the E34.
The Alpina on display was one of the first to be produced, bearing the number 14 on the identification plate.
It was delivered new in Germany on 9 May 1988 after leaving the factory on 11 April 1988.
The car arrived at the home of a collector in the south of France in 2020.
