Son premier client ne sera autre que la Présidence de la République française, qui en passait commande lors d'une présentation du projet en avant-première à François Mitterrand chez Heuliez, carrossier retenu pour la production.
Trois motorisations étaient proposées : un turbo diesel, le V6 injection, et une version V6 turbo.
Véritable voiture de luxe, la R25 Limousine pouvait être commandée " à la carte " tant le nombre d'options disponibles était important.
Hélas, devant son coût important (elle coûtait plus du double d'une version de base), elle n'a pas rencontré le succès ...
