Les premiers exemplaires, baptisés type D, laissent rapidement place au type E qui ne fut produit que durant l'année 1900.
Il se démarque notamment de la version précédente par la présence de freins sur les roues arrière.
L'exemplaire présenté, un des premiers exemplaires du type E produits, est exceptionnel à plus d'un titre.
Il a été acquis dans une propriété de la région de Châtellerault par le père des actuelles propriétaires.
