1961 Mercedes-Benz 190 'SLR' Roadster Titre de circulation hollandais Châssis n° 1210401002 1484 - Re-création de qualité, sans considération de coût - Modèle peu connu - Beaucoup plus sportive qu'une 190 SL - Sortant d'une restauration totale Pour les pilotes-amateurs n'ayant pas accès à la 300 SL trop coûteuse, Mercedes décide en 1955 de produire une version "compétition-client" de la 190 SL.
Gagnant la lettre "R" pour "Rennsport", il s'agit principalement d'un kit proposé pour alléger la voiture : dépourvue de pare-chocs, la 190 SLR reçoit notamment des portes en aluminium démunies de vitres, un pare-brise bas en plexi, des sièges spéciaux allégés, des jantes spéciales.
Le moteur bénéficiait aussi d'un traitement qui en augmentait la puissance.
Mais le projet va faire long feu : il semblerait que, refusée en catégorie GT, la 190 SLR se retrouvait en "sport de série", ce qui réduisait ses chances de réussite.
