La marque opte pour une séance de musculation en règle de la Beta Monte Carlo : le projet se fera sous la houlette de Cesare Fiorio, patron de la compétition.
Les ingénieurs développent donc une véritable bête de course : cellule centrale en aluminium, faux châssis tubulaires à l'avant et à l'arrière, kevlar dans la carrosserie, et un moteur développant 205 ch sur la version " stradale " (deux fois plus en configuration course), puissance transmise aux roues arrière.
Cette voiture est la 33ème construite sur les 200 nécessaires pour l'homologation en Groupe B (en réalité, 222 seront fabriquées).
