The car's history includes being a hearse, a flat-bed truck, and spending time in a scrapyard. However, it was rebuilt with an open tourer body, suggesting significant restoration work. The mention of water buffalo hide for the seats and the car being maintained by a classic car racing driver indicate care and attention to detail. The inclusion of valuable spares is also a positive factor. However, the extensive modifications and past use suggest that it cannot be rated as pristine or outstanding.

When this 3180cc 1925 Sunbeam 20/60 was finished by the factory, it was in somewhat different form to how it looks today.
Destined for South Africa, it left these shores as a chassis and engine and, upon arrival, was fitted with a hearse body and worked as a lead funeral car for many years.

Water buffalo hide was used for the seats, making them especially waterproof.
The car came to the UK in 1989, and was maintained for many years by a classic car racing driver.
We are told by the vendor that the toolbox on the running board originally belonged to Henry Wilding, the chief mechanic at Sunbeam, and went with him to the world speed record attempt at Daytona Beach in the USA during March 1927.
