Although it greatly disappointed sports car enthusiasts, the Matra-Simca Bagheera, a sports coupé with three seats in the
front, managed to win over a fairly large audience.

However, in 1979, Matra’s management decided to replace it with a new model with a more powerful engine and greater reliability.


The Talbot-Matra Murena was the last model produced jointly by Talbot/Simca and Matra.

Between 1980 and 1983, 10,860
Murena 1.6, 2.2 and 2.2 S models were built.


The 2.2S, of which only 480 units were produced between June and July 1983, was equipped with a 2,155 cc engine whose
power was increased to 142 hp thanks to a more aggressive camshaft and two Solex 40 ADDHE twin carburettors.

It also
stood out thanks to an optional aerodynamic package with side skirts and a rear spoiler lip, which not all customers ordered.
