Presented at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show at the same time as the wise Bertone Coupé, the Simca Abarth 1300 was a genuine racer built on the basis of the already promising Simca 1000; with a 13 cm shorter wheelbase, an aluminium body and a 125 bhp bialbero engine: the new French-Italian weapon quickly made its mark
Chrysler took over the Simca brand in 1963, and it seems that a few examples, called Abarths, were delivered without engines, then fitted with Rallye 2 engines, sometimes in Ralllye 3 configuration.

This could be the case of the car illustrated on these pages, chassis 070, which may have been driven by Lyon driver Pierre Maublanc in the Tour de Corse (to be confirmed)
Easily recognisable by its Abarth Due Mila front end (2-litre engine, an even rarer model), our car was owned by the same Parisian enthusiast between 1967 and the early 2000s, before changing hands
