Muntz Car Company, born in 1950, was the brainchild of Californian entrepreneur Earl "Madman" Muntz. He aimed to create stylish, high-performance vehicles.
The Muntz Jet, their flagship, was initially based on a design by Frank Kurtis. Muntz lengthened the Kurtis Sport Car chassis and installed a Cadillac V8 engine. Later models used Lincoln V8s.
The Jet was known for its luxurious interiors and unique features, like a center console with a liquor cabinet. Production was limited, with only around 400 cars made between 1950 and 1954.
A little-known fact: singer Mario Lanza owned a Muntz Jet. He loved it so much that he had special modifications made, including a custom sound system. Lanza even drove it to movie premieres, showcasing the Jet's celebrity appeal.
