The MG B V8 Roadster, produced from 1973 to 1976, was born of enthusiasts' desires for more power. MG couldn't officially source a suitable engine, so Ken Costello, an engineer, pioneered the Rover V8 conversion.
British Leyland, impressed, adopted the V8, creating the MG B GT V8. A roadster version was never officially produced by the factory.
However, a few were made by British Leyland, unofficially, for executives. These are highly sought after today.
