Land Rover's story began in 1948. The inspiration came when Maurice Wilks sketched the original design in the sand.
The Series I was conceived as a vehicle for farm use. Rover was struggling post-war, and needed a product to generate revenue.
Fun fact: Land Rover almost wasn't called Land Rover. "Land Rover" was initially a temporary name.
