The De Tomaso Guara, introduced in 1993, was the last car produced before the company's liquidation. It was based on a Maserati Barchetta prototype.
The Guara was available in coupe, spider, and barchetta versions. It used BMW and Ford engines. Production was limited, ending around 2004.
There was no direct successor.
A little-known fact is that the Guara's composite body panels were bonded directly to the chassis. This was a technique borrowed from Formula One. This resulted in a very stiff and light structure.
