Borgward, a German car manufacturer, was founded by Carl F.W. Borgward in 1929.
The company became known for innovative designs, such as the Hansa 1500, Germany's first ponton-bodied car.
Borgward faced financial difficulties and ceased operations in 1961.
In an interesting turn, the brand was revived in the 21st century with backing from Chinese investment.
