The Rolls-Royce Twenty (or 20 hp) was the company’s acceptance that buyers were keen to drive their cars themselves, rather than insisting on being chauffeured everywhere.

Rolls-Royce's famous engineering development, which set the highest standards of the day proved that the ‘baby’ Rolls retained its attributes of reliability and quality.

Powered by the 3.1-litre straight-six with a detachable cylinder head and overhead valves, it provided the company with a robust engine template that continued to serve the company well into the 1950s.

As part of the company's two-model policy, the Twenty, despite its ‘lesser’ status of a smaller horsepower disclosure was capable of cruising at a respectable speed and could actually outpace the better-known Silver Ghost.

Proving to be far more suitable for daily driving, almost 3,000 were built, which did much to help Rolls Royce survive the turbulent interwar years.
