Description
Launched in 1994, 24 years after the previous model was released.
The launch came just after the takeover from BMW, who had nothing to do with the development of the P38, but they took a keen interest in it.
The next-generation Range Rover offered more equipment and luxurious trim and was there to put their mark at the top of the SUV market.
No longer just a 4 x 4, it was Wolfgang Reitzle, the man in charge of Land Rover, that saw the potential in making the expensive luxury SUV, with various bespoke features such as a full leather interior, different wood trim options and, for the first time and quite mind-blowing at the time, TV screens in the headrests connected to a VHS video recorder (remember those).
A TV video package would come in at an eye-watering £9,500 option, and the total price would be in the region of £58,000 for a fully loaded Range Rover.
Definitely the top of the SUV market!
