AI Listing Summary

This 1979 Ford Escort MK2 has been restored and modified into a "1600 Sport Homage" with a two-litre Pinto engine and five-speed gearbox. Despite numerous cosmetic flaws on the exterior and some interior wear, the car has had significant mechanical refreshment and is described as driving great.
It is presented as a strong value "restomod" option, estimated to sell between £15,000 and £20,000, offering a fraction of the cost of a self-built equivalent and potentially suitable for daily use.

The car has undergone a restoration and mechanical refresh, with many new reproduction and upgraded parts. However, there are notable cosmetic issues including heavy polishing marks, paint contamination, a dent on the front wing, an imperfection on the rear door, bubbling paint on the roof, heavily scratched glazing, delaminating rear window, a slightly damaged rear light unit, filler visible in several areas, and sun damage on door frames. The interior shows some wear on the front seats and minor trim damage. While mechanically sound with recent work on brakes and suspension, the engine sump has sealant repair and a minor oil leak.

It also features a twin-choke Weber carburettor along with alloy components that include the radiator, bellhousing, and sump.

Restored in the UK on a rotisserie for full access and mechanically refreshed into the bargain, the seller took the Escort in part-exchange against an American classic car, which is what he specialises in.

Nevertheless, the quality of the workmanship impressed him: “It’s a well-put-together MkII Escort with a straightforward specification that adds a few sensible upgrades to the original look that make it easier to use.” The combination of Signal Gree...
