AI Listing Summary

This 1983 Volkswagen Golf GTi, resplendent in Lhasa Green, boasts a long-term owner and recent mechanical work, including a fuel injection system overhaul and new fuel tank. While the exterior has some blemishes like faded paint and rust spots, the interior is well-preserved, though not without minor issues; these factors contribute to its attractive price point.

Condition

The car has some cosmetic issues such as faded paint on the bonnet, rust spots, chips to the roof and a scratch on the driver's door, peeling paint on the front bumper and offside rear wheelarch trim. Interior has some wear, such as light surface corrosion and worn clutch pedal rubber. Speedometer doesn't work. However, the car starts well, idles solidly, and revs freely, recent hefty investment (engine rebuild in 2002).

The seller bought ‘EWL 422Y’ from that gentleman’s estate as a part-finished project.

Missing its fuel tank and sender, he replaced the missing items with new ones and recommissioned it with a thorough service.

He then MoT’d it for his own peace of mind too and spent the past six months reliving his youth and marvelling at how right the MKI Golf GTi still feels.

So, if you want to relive your New Romantic days too, why not pop in a Duran Duran cassette and si...
