Unveiled in prototype guise at the 1995 Geneva Motor Show before entering production later that same year the notably aerodynamic and lightweight newcomer made extensive use of aluminium and is powered by a mid-mounted 150hp 2.0-litre 16-valve engine from the delicious Clio Williams and, with just 920kg of car to haul around, its performance was suitably lively - 0 to 60mph in 6.5 seconds, and an eventual, and very windy, top speed of 131mph.

It has a five-speed manual gearbox driving the rear wheels, an industrial-strength, extruded aluminium chassis, a composite body with scissor doors and double wishbones all round.
