When De Tomaso acquired Maserati in 1976 plans were made to combine the prestige of the Maserati brand with a sports car that would be more affordable than the traditional Maserati range.The Bi-turbo was a successful seller and brought Italian sports prestige to a wider audience.

The Bi-turbo was not your average saloon car, instead it had the underpinnings of a real prestige sports car.

The 2.8 litre aluminium V6 engine was broadly based on the 2.0 Litre Merak engine.

This engine had in turn been based on the design of earlier V8 Formula One Maserati engines.

We are told that this car was originally delivered new to Hong Kong in 1989, this rare 430 Bi-turbo was imported into the UK in 2000.
