With its long bonnet, flowing wings and short tail, it looked every inch a thoroughbred.

The famed Riley Nine engine was well proven in motor sport with a considerable number of successes to its credit and was one of the most effective in the 1100cc class, both in Britain and on the Continent.

On the road, the Imp handled crisply with precise steering and the ability to out perform many of its contemporaries.

However, such exclusivity didn t come cheaply - at £325 the Imp cost considerably more than other small sports cars such as the Singer Nine Le Mans and the MG P Type Midget.
