Eligible for prestigious concours and competition events BMW could hardly have wished for a better competitive debut for its 328 Roadster.
In the June 1936 edition of the Eifelrennen at the Nürburgring, Works motorcycle racer Ernst Henne powered to victory in the 2.0-litre class.
Off the back of the immediate success, national motorsport grids soon became heavily populated with the new sports car.
This example, chassis number 85367, is recorded in the handwritten BMW 328 build log as having been finished in White and produced in April 1939.
