While RUF Automobiles made its name enhancing Porsche bodies in white, the SCR is truly the company’s own platform from the ground up.

Presented at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show, the model clearly features retro styling cues inspired by air-cooled 911s yet a state-of-the-art carbon fibre monocoque nestles beneath the ultra-lightweight panels that were shaped by CFD.

Behind the rear axle lies a 4-litre, water-cooled, Mezger-derived alloy flat-six that breathes through intakes hidden beneath the rear side windows.

Rated at 510 PS, the engine powers the 1,250-kilogram machine to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and onto a 320 km/h top speed.

Those performance figures are undeniably impressive.

However, the SCR was conceived first and foremost to be a pure and therefore compelling driver’s car.

The transmission is a six-speed manual from ZF, the brakes carbon ceramic, and specialist KW supplies the V5 coilover suspension.
