In international competition, the Austin-Healey initially had racing success with the 100S, before the 3000 asserted itself in the 3 Litre GT class on both sides of the Atlantic, at Le Mans and Sebring.

The 3000 would ultimately achieve its legendary status on the gruelling long-distance international rallies of Europe, victories which seem today to be barely believable.
