Ferrari’s first turbocharged V-8 since the legendary F40, the 488 GTB was unveiled to a rapturous reception in March 2015.

Powered by a 661 horsepower 3,902-cubic-centimetre twin-turbocharged power unit mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the GTB was followed that autumn by the GTS.

Although mechanically identical, the new variant added a retractable roof to the mix—allowing owners to enjoy open-air motoring, as well as getting closer to the spine-tingling soundtrack.

Further evolutions included the GTE and Challenge racers, which in turn led to the lightweight but road-legal Pista.

Featuring the most powerful V-8 engine in Maranello history, the Pista made its debut in early 2018.

It was joined by the GTS-based Pista Spider six months later.

Weighing in at 1,280 kilograms, this ultimate 488 was a full 90 kilograms less than the standard GTB, while that car’s superb aerodynamics were further honed in the quest for maximum performance.
