Description
Some 25 years after its last victory, Peugeot returned to the Dakar Rally in 2015 with the new two-wheel-drive, diesel V-6 powered 2008 DKR model.
Following a troubled debut, the Vélizy-based team regrouped to secure a dominant overall win in 2016 with Dakar legend Stéphane Peterhansel.
In 2017, Peugeot Sport unveiled the evolutionary 3008 DKR, which shared the same 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine as its predecessor, albeit fitted to a newly strengthened chassis.
Boasting 340 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque, the 3008 DKR propelled Peterhansel to a seventh Dakar car crown from a remarkable 13 outings.
Illustrious teammates Sébastien Loeb and Cyril Despres completed the podium, the latter driving chassis C22, which RM Sotheby’s is proud to offer here.
Acquired by Peugeot customer team PH Sport in mid-2017, C22 was subsequently driven by Khalid Al Qassimi, the Emirati securing the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge in 2017 and contesting Dakar in 2018 and 2022.
