AI Listing Summary

This 1938 Bugatti Type 57S is a Surbaissé chassis, one of only 43 believed to be built. Originally bodied by Corsica as a coupe, it suffered accident damage and was later rebuilt with a roadster body in the style of Col. Gilles Corsica. The car now features a high-performance engine with a rare Bugatti carburetor and is accompanied by an incomplete spare engine with a matching-numbers crankcase.

Condition

6

While the car has been rebuilt and features attractive coachwork inspired by the Col. Gilles Corsica Roadster, it's not in its original factory condition due to the chassis straightening, replacement of various engine components (including the crankcase), and the later coachwork. The inclusion of a spare engine with matching numbers adds to its appeal, the non-original parts and accident history prevent a higher rating.

According to research conducted by marque expert David Sewell, the car was regis...
