The 250 GT model line would see a further development on 1 October 1959, when Ferrari displayed the Series II iteration of their 250 GT Cabriolet.
As with the Series I cars, Pininfarina styled and manufactured the bodies, and power was provided via a 3.0-litre “Colombo” V-12 coupled with a four-speed manual gearbox.
The Series II was essentially a grand touring version of the competition-derived 250 California Spider.
Equipped with four-wheel disc brakes and the outside-plug engine developed during the Testa Rossa campaigns, the new cabriolet offered the perfect balance of handling and performance.
According to the marque expert, Marcel Massini, 201 examples of the Series II Cabriolets were produced between 1959 to 1962, lending the model equal parts elegance and rarity.
This example is part of the early production run, leaving the Maranello factory finished in Grigio Conchiglia over a Rosso leather and vinyl interior.
