Introduced in 1985 as an updated to the Ferrari 400i, the 412 appeared largely similar to its predecessor at first glance, but included several important cosmetic and mechanical updates.

Leonardi Fioravanti’s design was further refined by Pininfarina to incorporate a higher boot-line which brought about increased luggage space, as well as a deeper front air dam, redesigned sill panels, body-coloured inserts, and a new wheel design.

Mechanically, behind those wheels was a Bosch ABS system, a first for Ferrari.

Under the bonnet, the V-12 engine’s displacement was increased to 4,942 cc, which helped to increase power to 340 bhp, an 8% increase.

Acceleration from 0-62 mph was achieved in 6.7 seconds, which a top speed of 150 mph capable if pushed further.
