The original Lincoln Continental, created by E.T.
“Bob” Gregorie for Edsel Ford around the basis of the Lincoln-Zephyr, is one of the all-time styling icons amidst American Full Classics.
One of just 350 Continental cabriolets produced in the first season of production, The Shrine of the Holy Grille’s example was originally shipped to the St.
Louis Ford branch on 13 June 1940, and was sold new in that area.
Interestingly, its build sheet, a copy of which accompanies the car, confirms that it was originally delivered in this unusual and striking livery, Black with a Black top and the very rare full whipcord interior, rather than the usual leather interior seen on Continental cabriolets.
An older restoration in very presentable condition, it would be an ideal basis for freshening and showing, or for driving enjoyment on CCCA CARavans.
