The wide-arched M Roadster borrowed its engine from the E36 M3, wrapped it in a reworked chassis with a limited-slip differential and a wider rear track, and delivered one of the most driver-focused roadsters of its era.

The result was 321bhp, rear-wheel drive, a five-speed manual and not much else to get between you and the road.
