Even the boss of Aston at the time only said they would “consider low volume production”.
By the time production of the first generation ended, a rather incredible 1,199 had been produced.
Not a “low volume” special then.
Demand was so intense that they had to re-engineer the front end to homologate it for sale in the US, where supply struggled to meet demand.
As they say, hindsight is 20/20, but it’s easy to see why it was such a hit – and remains high on many enthusiasts’ wishlists.
