Highlights Iconic 90s hot hatch Six-speed manual gearbox Amazing history file Fully resprayed in previous ownership Over £7k spent in past year to make it one of the very best examples Overview While nothing can be taken away from the Peugeot 205 GTI, which was the French firm’s original hot hatch and will always be an icon, those with an edgier, more controversial mindset might go as far as to say it wasn’t the best hot hatch to ever wear the famous roaring lion badge.

After all, the 1990s were very much Peugeot’s purple patch, with sporty models from the raw and basic 106 Rallye right up to the plush 405 Mi16 providing performance in all shapes and sizes.

Those edgy people may have a point, too, for while the 306 GTI-6 will never have the raw, original appeal of the 205 GTI, it’s arguably the better car – certainly one with better handling and peakier performance, plus an air of refinement that some of Peugeot’s sportier models of the era could only dream of.
