Overview During its development, the Porsche Macan was known within Porsche as Project Cajun, the name being an abruption of Cayenne Junior.

Its purpose, then, was pretty obvious – to take the basis of what had become the fastest-selling and most profitable Porsche model ever and repackage it into a smaller and more affordable format, and one that would inevitably bring more new faces into the Porsche fold. It may have taken purists a while to accept a Porsche SUV as true to the brand, but when the Macan made its debut, it made business look slow for the proverbial hot cake seller.
