AI Listing Summary

This 1971 Austin Mini Countryman is a restored model, converted from a Clubman version, featuring a sky-blue paint finish and wood trim. While the car presents well with a charming aesthetic and a generally good interior, the restoration lacks documented invoices.

Condition

6

While the car is described as beautifully restored with a recent paint job and interior work, the absence of invoices and the transformation from a Clubman version suggest potential compromises in originality and documentation. The overall good condition and recent restoration work are positives, but the lack of detailed history impacts the rating.

1971 Austin Mini "Countryman" 1000 Estate Chassis number: 524719 French registration - Backdated - 1000 cc engine - Beautifully restored The Countryman is one of the most attractive and sought-after versions of the Austin Mini.

Launched in 1961, it was aimed at gentlemen-farmers and urbanites who wanted to stand out from the crowd.

The uprights are adorned with varnished wood to great effect.

Unlike the Morris Traveler, the wood elements on the Mini Countryman are purely decorative, a nod to American woodies.

The wheelbase has been lengthened by 10 cm, while the rear bench seat is now foldable, to provide greater loading space.

This version was a resounding success: over 200,000 were produced up to 1969.

Subsequently, Mini station wagons lost their wood cladding, but retained a structure similar to that of the first models.

The Mini we present today is a Clubman version that was transformed into a Countryman during its restoration.
