So the engineers at Newport Pannel began work on a V8 Cabriolet.

In June 1978, the V8 Volante was launched.

The first Aston Martin cabriolet since the DB6 Volante, it retained the elegance of the V8 coupé, whether the roof was open or closed - a rarity for a cabriolet.

One of the very first to be produced, this model left the factory on February 8, 1979, and was intended for the European market, as confirmed by its Aston Martin certificate.

It was first registered in Switzerland in March 1979.
