Introduced in 1956, the Renault Dauphine quickly established itself on the post-war French market as the popular saloon car, and achieved a commercial success that had nothing to envy the Renault 4CV, from which it inherited the mechanical base and architecture, namely a self-supporting hull and a rear-mounted engine.
The Dauphine boasts 30hp for a top speed of 115km/h, an acceptable boot volume of 137dm3, a spare wheel that hides behind the front bumper, and an interior with an interesting volume, but it's above all its price that interests the public.
As for the bodywork, it was designed by Ghia, with rounded lines for improved aerodynamics.
