C'est pour remplacer la fragile J2 dans la gamme des Midget que MG lance la nouvelle PA en 1934.
En fait le vilebrequin des moteurs équipant la J2 était soutenu par deux paliers et avec la PA, c'est un tout nouveau moteur qui est construit en se servant de l'enseignement des versions course.
Le diamètre des freins augmente aussi et passe de 8 à 12 pouces comme sur la version course type J3.
Aux 24 Heures du Mans 1935, la PA s'exprime correctement en remportant facilement sa catégorie et terminant 9e au général grâce à l'équipe MAILLARD-BRUNE / DRUCK.
