En 1971, suite à des difficultés associées à des problèmes dans la production des moteurs à réaction, la marque a décidé de développer les modèles deux portes ce qui a donné une nouvelle impulsion lors de la sortie du modèle Rolls- Royce Corniche.
Cet objectif ambitieux était bien fondé puisque la production automobile était solvable et rentable.
La nouvelle Corniche avec un système d'échappement à faible perte, moteur préparé et relooké, une nouvelle planche de bord et de nouveaux enjoliveurs inox avec roues en acier différaient dans la spécification technique ainsi que dans l'aspect extérieur par rapport aux modèles de base.
A partir de 1982, seul le cabriolet est resté en fabrication.
