Chenard & Walcker, la marque de Gennevilliers qui arbore l'aigle comme emblème, présente au salon de Paris 1927 deux nouveaux modèles sport à moteur 1500 cm3.
Dénommée Y8, la 1500 surbaissée est équipée d'une carrosserie Ç tank È alors que la version semi surbaissée qui prend le type Y7 est habillée d'une carrosserie Grand Sport fuselée appelée Ç Torpille È.
Il faut aussi noter la possibilité de commander le chassis Y7 avec une carrosserie conduite intérieure deux portes en bois contreplaqué.
Le moteur était commun aux deux versions.
Il s'agissait d'un tout nouveau quatre cylindres avec culasse à turbulence Ricardo.
Les cotes sont de 69 mm d'alésage et de 100 mm de course.
L'ingénieur Toutée a dessiné un moteur très court avec graissage sous pression et radiateur d'huile, soupapes d'admission en tte et soupapes d'échappement latérales.
Un gros carburateur Solex assure l'alimentation.
