Tractor built in Basildon - day shift 5th September 1972
Destination overseas, due to a shortage of tractors, following the Ford strike of the 70's, it remained in the UK
There were a lot of 4000 & 5000 brought down to the West Country with high-dust air cleaners and round wings
Local Ford dealers fitted Duncan cabs or roll bars
Ford 5000 was bought by a local farmer who was a best friend of my late father-in-law.

I bought it when the farmer retired in 2000
Its main job was driving a New Holland double chop forage harvester
In the mid-80s, he needed more power, so he went to the Ford dealer and bought ...
