This E55 is a proper old-school AMG and, more importantly, has with plenty of history behind it.

The accompanying paperwork is extensive, with stacks of invoices, previous MOTs and maintenance records showing that previous owners have spent thousands keeping it mechanically right over the years.

Under the bonnet sits AMG's naturally aspirated 5.4-litre M113 V8, producing 354hp and 530Nm when new and driving the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic gearbox.

These were seriously quick saloons in their day, with Mercedes quoting 0-62mph in 5.7 seconds, but the appeal now is arguably just as much about that big naturally aspirated V8 and the understated W210 shape.

This example also has a very good specification.

Inside you'll find black leather, heated and electrically adjustable front seats, electric sunroof, cruise control, parking sensors, climate control and the familiar Mercedes wood trim.

The interior has worn its mileage particularly well and remains one of its stronges...
