The Mercedes‑Benz C215 refers to the second-generation CL‑Class, produced from 1999 to 2006 as the luxury coupe counterpart to the S‑Class (W220).

It replaced the C140 model and represented a major shift toward lighter, more technologically advanced design, featuring extensive use of aluminium and innovations such as Active Body Control (ABC) suspension, which reduced body roll and improved ride comfort.

The C215 introduced a range of powerful engines, including V8, V12, and high-performance AMG variants like the CL55 AMG and CL65 AMG, reflecting Mercedes‑Benz’s focus on combining luxury with high performance.

During its production run, the C215 also showcased pioneering driver-assistance and electronic systems, reinforcing Mercedes’ reputation for engineering leadership at the turn of the 21st century.

It was eventually succeeded by the C216 CL‑Class in 2006, marking the continued evolution of Mercedes’ flagship coupe line.
