The Mercedes-Benz SLK 32 AMG, introduced in 2001 as part of the R170 SLK lineup, marked a significant milestone as the first SLK to receive a full AMG performance treatment.

Developed by Mercedes-AMG, it featured a handcrafted 3.2‑litre supercharged V6 engine (M112K) producing around 349 horsepower, paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission, allowing it to accelerate from 0-60 mph in approximately 5 seconds.

Externally, it retained the compact roadster proportions of the standard SLK but incorporated sportier AMG styling cues, while the interior reflected a blend of luxury and performance.

The SLK 32 AMG was also notable for continuing the model’s innovative retractable hardtop ‘Vario‑Roof’, combining coupe-like security with convertible versatility.

Produced until around 2004, it helped establish a strong foundation for AMG-tuned compact sports cars and influenced later high-performance SLK (and eventually SLC) models.
