AI Listing Summary

This 1987 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL boasts long-term ownership of 38 years and low mileage at 53,400. It features a desirable colour combination and comes with a hardtop, making it a potentially attractive classic.
While the Nautical Blue Metallic paint is believed to be original and presents well with minor marks, the 'leather' interior requires professional cleaning and recolouring. Modifications like AMG wheels and steering wheel add to its 80s appeal, and it's noted as a head-turner that's becoming harder to find in good condition.

Condition

7

The car presents well for its age, with original paint that has a few marks that could be improved with a machine polish. The interior 'leather' could benefit from a professional clean and recolouring. The overall condition is considered Very Good, with minor wear visible but not prominent.

Now we have no way of knowing if the Mercedes ever went to Malawi (we doubt it), but in the 80s Mercedes would deliver a car to almost any location irrespective of where the order was placed.

Our 300SL was registered in the UK only six months later in February 1987.

The accompanying VIN check sheet also gives us the specification and colour choices that were originally ordered; the SL being ordered in Nautical Blue Metallic paint and Beige Fabric upholstery.

Clearly, it now has Light Beige ‘leather’ upholstery piped in blue, so we assume the leather was retro fitted in the early years, p...
