The Aston Martin DB7 i6, introduced in 1994, marked a pivotal moment in the company’s history as it helped secure Aston Martin’s financial stability and broaden its appeal.

Developed during Ford’s ownership, the DB7 was designed with input from Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR) and styled by Ian Callum, blending classic Aston Martin cues with modern proportions.

The ‘i6’ designation refers to its supercharged 3.2‑litre inline-six engine, derived from Jaguar’s AJ6 unit, producing around 335 horsepower.

Built at a dedicated facility in Bloxham, Oxfordshire, the DB7 i6 was the first Aston Martin produced in relatively higher volumes, making the brand more accessible than its hand-built predecessors.

Its elegant design, strong performance, and comparatively lower price attracted new customers and revitalised the marque, paving the way for future models like the DB7 V12 Vantage and establishing a foundation for Aston Martin’s resurgence in the late 1990s.
