We are very pleased to bring this RS Turbo to sale.
This fabulous example was originally sold new by Haynes Bros.
Ltd in Maidstone to a company called R.J.
King in Maidstone on 22/3/1988.
The RS is finished in white with the Raven cloth trim and was bought with 36 months extra cover - a bit of a thing back in the day and an expensive thing to do.
No doubt the owner would have been delighted with their purchase because if had one these in 1988, you had arrived.
The 1988 Ford Escort RS Turbo was a Mark IV generation model, a heavily facelifted version of the Mark III RS Turbo.
It was powered by a turbocharged 1.6L CVH engine producing about 132 horsepower and featured a distinctive body kit, including a spoiler and wheel arches, all painted to match the body colour.
This model continued the legacy of the ‘pocket rocket’ hot hatch which many other manufacturers followed but in most circles the RS is the one everybody wanted at the time and that carries through to today.
