Based on the Esprit S4, the GT3 featured a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four engine, producing around 240 horsepower - a reduction in displacement compared to the 2.2-litre units used in other Esprit models, but still offering impressive performance due to the car’s lightweight design.

Weighing just 1,260 kg, the GT3 provided a sharp, engaging driving experience, emphasizing Lotus’ hallmark of “performance through lightness.” It came with a five-speed manual transmission, a stripped-down yet well-appointed interior, and sportier suspension tuning for enhanced handling.

Production continued until 1999, making it one of the rarest Esprit models.
