The Mini 1275 GT was introduced in 1969 as a sportier alternative to the standard Mini models, replacing the Mini Cooper S in British Leyland’s lineup.
Designed as part of the Mini Clubman range, it featured a squared-off front end, distinguishing it from the classic round-nose Minis.
The 1275 GT was powered by a 1,275 cc A-Series engine, offering improved performance and torque over the standard Mini 1000.
Although it was not as fast as the outgoing Cooper S, it was more affordable to produce and maintain, making it a popular choice.
It also came with a rev counter, wider wheels, and a distinctive black stripe decal, adding to its sporty appeal.
The 1275 GT remained in production until 1980, when it was phased out in favour of newer models, but it remains a beloved classic among Mini enthusiasts for its unique styling and character.
